Hog hunters using Pit Bulls for catch dogs have a problem getting their dog loose from the hog. We at Coon Hunters Supply have designed and built a wide variety of break sticks for you to choose from. Our break sticks are made from different materials, that we have tested for strength and are very durable. We have used straight grained Red Oak, as straight grain wood is strongest of the red oak material. Some are built from Plexiglas and some are made using Polyethylene. All have rounded edges to avoid injury to the dogs mouth. The materials used are 1/4", 1/2", the red oak is 3/4". All our break sticks are easy to hold, use and clean up very quickly.
When it comes to wild hog hunting, few hog hunters ever think
about hog management and preservation. Most people would say that a species
like the wild hog never needs protection or management. This is mainly due to
their high level of reproduction. Most wild hog hunters don't give a second thought to
preserving "trophy" boar management. The fact
is that the wild hogs has developed such a nuisance reputation with farmers,
ranchers, and some outdoors men that many people have developed a "kill-'em-all"
attitude. This is exactly what we, as responsible future-minded hog hunters, need to
change keep the sport of wild hog hunting around for the future.
Yes, I know that a farmer's crop is his livelihood, and I do not
disagree with someone protecting it. However I do feel that mass
areas or shoot-and-let-lay tactics are not the way to conserve and
animals we love to hunt. We need to realize that these types of things
daily. So we must act responsibly in our hunting procedures, especially
if we want to see better trophy class boars when, we take to the woods for wild hog hunting.
For other dog health supplies go to our dog health pages. We have supplies for cuts, pad care, etc.
We have wild hog calls to help locate those wild hogs. and staples and supplies to take care of those cut our dogs get in the field.
Haydel Hog Calls
Haydel Calls are always true to tone for any calling need. These hog calls will get your hog in to range for an easy kill. I use the Haydel call as a locater call. the pig call will get the older hog to come look for the pig that is in trouble. Their calls are well build and easy to use. Haydel has a long history of call making. The calls are build for the wild hog hunter to use and improve your hunt.
Scents and Lures
Our scents and
Lures have been proven to work in all conditions. Use with snares along
a pig trail, near fence lines and around wallows. Remember a wild hog
is a heavy animal with four wheel drive. Always make sure your snares
are tied to a heavy anchor. Talk to the owner of the land you plan to do
your hog trapping and hunting. He will tell you more about the hog
trails, wallows, live stock and other info to make your hog hunt
successful Do some scouting before you set up your hunt, and traps.
